Important update: Infant formula donations

As part of the Trussell community of foodbanks, we follow national guidance regarding donations.

Foodbanks in the Trussell network are unable to accept donations of infant formula or baby milk. This follows advice issued by UNICEF, which highlights the potential health risks associated with distributing formula.

The guidance explains that giving out the wrong type of formula – or a type a baby is not used to – can pose a risk to a child’s health. In addition, foodbanks cannot always guarantee that families will have access to appropriate facilities to safely prepare formula.

Our priority is always the safety and wellbeing of children and families. While we cannot distribute infant formula, we will continue to provide food and essential supplies for families and signpost parents and carers to appropriate agencies and organisations that can offer specialist support.
