Summer holiday support

10th July 2026

For many families, the summer holidays are a time to relax and make memories. However, when children are at home for six weeks, household food bills can increase significantly, adding extra pressure to already stretched budgets. Free school meals stop during the holidays, while the cost of providing meals, snacks and activities quickly adds up.

At Hart Foodbank, we know that this time of year can be particularly challenging. If you’re worried about how you’ll manage over the summer, please remember that you’re not alone and support is available.

Our team is here to provide emergency food support and, where possible, help connect you with other organisations offering practical advice and assistance. We can also signpost families to local holiday activity programmes and other community services that may be able to help during the school break.

If you’re concerned about your finances or struggling to afford food, we encourage you to reach out as early as possible. Speaking to one of our partner referral agencies or contacting our Community Connector Team can help you access the right support before your situation becomes a crisis.

How you can help

The summer months are also an important time for food donations. While demand for support often increases, donations can reduce as people go on holiday.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps us support local people throughout the summer.

Thank you for standing with our community and helping ensure that no one has to face the school holidays without the food and support they need. 💚
