🧺 Rising need as winter approaches: Community support keeps shelves stocked

6th November 2025

As temperatures drop and energy bills rise, more families than ever are turning to food banks for support. Across the UK, demand for emergency food parcels has increased steadily this autumn – and local volunteers are working tirelessly to meet the growing need.

At our food bank, we’ve seen a steady rise in visitors over the past few months, with many struggling to make ends meet amid the ongoing cost-of-living pressures. Basic items like tinned meat, soup, pasta, and toiletries remain in constant demand.

Despite the challenges, our community continues to show incredible generosity. Local schools, churches, and businesses have organised collection drives, while individuals drop off donations week after week. Every tin and packet truly makes a difference.

As we move into the winter months, we’re encouraging anyone able to give to continue donating – whether it’s a few extra items from your weekly shop or your time as a volunteer.

🧡 Together, we can make sure no one in our community goes hungry this winter.
