Our Foodbank continues to support families as cost pressures persist

1st March 2026

Foodbanks serving Hampshire communities are reporting ongoing high demand as local households continue to manage rising living costs.

Volunteers at our Foodbank and neighbouring community hubs say they are regularly supporting people who are struggling with everyday expenses – including working families, pensioners, and residents experiencing benefit delays or unexpected bills.

Organisers report that essential supplies such as long-life milk, tinned protein, and toiletries remain in short supply, and are appealing to local residents and businesses for donations to help keep shelves stocked.

“We’re seeing people in work who still can’t make ends meet,” said one volunteer. “Local generosity has been amazing, but the need is still very real.”

Community donation drives – including collection points at supermarkets in Fleet, Church Crookham, and Hook have helped, but organisers say consistent support is vital to keep foodbanks running.

Charity coordinators are also urging awareness of wider food insecurity issues and calling for targeted support from policymakers to reduce reliance on emergency aid.

“We want everyone in our community to have access to basic essentials without worrying where their next meal comes from,” a spokesperson said.

Local supporters are encouraged to check foodbank websites and social media for lists of urgently needed items and upcoming collection events.
