Not long now until Harvest Festival 2024

22nd September 2024

This year Harvest Festival falls on Sunday 6th October – a time of gratitude, reflection, and giving.

In the UK, Harvest Festival is a traditional celebration that takes place in late September or early October, coinciding with the end of the growing season. It dates back centuries and is a time to give thanks for the successful gathering of crops. The festival has its roots in pagan traditions, where communities celebrated the harvest to ensure good fortune for the coming year. It later became associated with Christian traditions and is commonly observed in churches, schools, and communities.

During Harvest Festival, people give thanks for the food produced from the land and share it with those in need. We will be collecting donations of food, and non-perishable items for our foodbank to support our local community.

Please look out for more details of items we need and dates for dropping off. Thank you.
