Cheryl Fergison, known for her role as Heather Trott on EastEnders (2007-2012), has revealed she faced severe financial hardship after leaving the soap, even relying on a food bank.
The 60-year-old actress shared how her struggles began following a womb cancer diagnosis in 2015, which led to a hysterectomy, early menopause, and mental health challenges.

Fergison said she was penniless and sought help from Citizens Advice, who directed her to a food bank. She praised the workers as “angels” and said the experience, though humbling, gave her hope.
Now working in pantomimes and singing gigs, she encourages others to use food banks without shame, emphasising they are a vital lifeline.
