At Hart Foodbank, our aim is to stop hunger in our local area so that the Foodbank will no longer be needed. We provide different types of support because people’s circumstances and needs can be very different.
You may have heard of both Hart Foodbank and the Hart Community Pantry, but what is the difference between the two?
🥫 Hart Foodbank – emergency support when you need it most
The Foodbank provides emergency food support for people experiencing a crisis.
Foodbank clients receive:
- Three days’ worth of food to provide emergency support
- A tailored food parcel based on the needs of their household
- Support for as long as it is required during a crisis, subject to referral
- A referral from a partner referral agency is preferred
Our Foodbank service is there to make sure that when people are facing a difficult period and don’t have enough money for food, they can access essential support.
🛒 Community Pantry – affordable food and more choice
The Community Pantry offers a different type of support. Rather than receiving an emergency food parcel, Pantry members can choose from the food available for a £5 membership fee paid each visit, helping them make their own decisions about the food that is right for their household. Goods received are valued at £20-£30.
The Pantry helps make good food more accessible while supporting people who may be struggling with the rising cost of living.
Our Pantry service operates from Fleet, with our Mobile Pantry van, “Harty”, supporting communities through Pantry hubs.
💚 Two services, one shared purpose
Although the Foodbank and Community Pantry work in different ways, they have the same goal: to help meet the needs of people in our local community and reduce hunger.
If you’re unsure which service could help you, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to provide more information.
